How long does it take to clean a conservatory roof?

The honest answer for most conservatories I clean around Chippenham is a good chunk of a morning, and I'd usually rather start it early than squeeze it in at the end of a day.

Why it isn't a quick job

A conservatory roof isn't one surface. It's panes, bars, a ridge, the bottom edges where debris collects, and on most, guttering that's small enough to block with a season's worth of moss. Every part of that needs working through separately.

The glass itself takes time because the dirt isn't loose dust. It's an algae film that's bonded to the surface over months, and it needs the right cleaning agent and enough contact time to release rather than being scrubbed at.

Why the whole roof gets done, not the worst bit

One pitch usually looks worse than the others — whichever side sits in shade longest stays damp after rain, and that's all moss needs. It's tempting to only tackle that side.

I don't, because you end up with a patchy roof when you look up from inside, and the untouched glass carries on building until it's a much harder job next time. Whole roof, one visit.

How it differs from window cleaning

Windows I clean from the ground with a water-fed pole and pure water only, nothing left behind on the glass. Conservatory roofs are different work — cleaning agents to shift algae and lichen, and careful access across the panes. Slower, and worth doing properly rather than often. For most Chippenham conservatories, once a year keeps it right; twice if it sits under trees.

Gutters while I'm up there

Conservatory guttering is low, narrow and blocks easily, and everything coming off the roof has to go somewhere. If I spot a problem I'll say so. Inspections are free whether you ask or I notice.
